Choosing the right Orthodontist

General Dentistry Versus OrthodonticsThere may come a time where you have to choose the right orthodontics Palm Beach Gardens. Just like a physician they should meet certain personal needs. You should be comfortable with the office and the dentist as well. People don’t generally go in for consultations to a dentist but using one to get a cleaning initially won’t hurt. This way, you get to deal with the staff and also the orthodontist. When you see an orthodontist you are there to get the more specialized dental treatments. This is the adult braces; tooth plugs; advanced whitening and some oral surgery. So, you’ll want to be aware of who you are dealing with because face it—it can be a nerve wracking experience.

Look at the front office

Is the front office so jammed with overlapping appointments that the desk hardly notices you?  This is both a good and bad sign. It all depends on the way the staff deal with you once they get to you. It also may mean they are good and well in-demand.

How do they communicate?

Are they giving you a rush job or are they communicating with you and listening? Does the dentist stay with you and talk to you about your procedures? Does he or she explain the procedure and make you feel comfortable and educated with it?

What plans do they accept?

Do they accept a good amount of insurance or are they attached to one in particular? Do they offer dental plans there? In other words, do the suite your financial needs? Are they treating the whole family; from your kids’ braces to your bi-yearly checkups and cleanings?

When to start seeing an Orthodontist?

For kids especially, you should get them to an orthodontist by age 7. This is why you need the best fit for you and your family. The kids’ check up looks to see how the teeth are coming in. This means making a commitment to an orthodontist for several years. Make sure they are the one prior to committing to the service. Bottom line—comfort’s key!
